Welcome to an exciting and important part of your teen's life as they prepare to receive the sacrament of Confirmation to grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ!
The Confirmation preparation program at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish follows the guidelines of the Diocese of Austin, and these guidelines govern who may receive the Sacrament. Please read below to ensure that your high school student is eligible to receive Confirmation.
Youth must be in high school, 10th - 12th grade, and have attended faith formation for the year prior to Sacrament preparation (normally 9th grade) and the year during Sacrament preparation (normally 10th grade).
Confirmation for teens is generally given during their 10th grade year at St. Thomas Aquinas.
Attendance in the High School Ministry program meets this requirement.
Youth must be Baptized and have received their First Communion.
If a youth is not baptized, please refer to the Becoming Catholic (7-18 Years) pages for more information.
If a youth has been baptized Catholic but not received First Communion, the youth will complete an additional First Communion Preparation Course during their second year of faith formation.
Confirmation preparation sessions, required by the Diocese of Austin, are supplmentary sessions to the weekly High School Ministry program.
