The Traditional Latin Mass (often abbreviated in the colloquial "TLM") is a term commonly used to refer to Masses offered according to the Missal of St Pope John XXIII promulgated in 1962. For centuries before 1970, this was the way the Mass was celebrated worldwide, the same Mass that nourished the souls of saints and sinners for centuries. Most everything in this mass will be in Latin, but the readings and homily will be in English, and the music will be traditional chant and polyphony. Incense will be used, and there will be extended times of silence for contemplative meditation on the mystery of the sacrifice of the Mass.
Even though the reformed liturgy of the Second Vatican Council is the normative liturgy, there are many Catholics who find spiritual nourishment from the TLM, and St Thomas Aquinas is happy to be able to offer this liturgy throughout the year (usually about 6 times a year).
